Victoria Karpos

Ingenuity Brings Classical Sculpture to Utah

Victoria Karpos knows a business opportunity when she sees it.  She, and her husband Vasili, had been importing statues directly from Greece for friends and family for some time.  As time when on, they found that statues were not arriving on time, had inconsistent quality and were becoming more and more expensive.  In 1993, they decided they had to find another way to meet customer demands.  Using a combination of technology, materials knowledge and artistic skills, they came up with an innovative manufacturing process and in 1995, MARBLECast Products and STATUES.COM were created.

MARBLECast Products is a full service manufacturing production facility, wholesaler and retailer.  Services include: sculpting and commissions of private and public artworks, silicone mold building and casting of design work using a variety of casting materials such as resin, bronze and bonded marble.

The innovative casting material MARBLECast uses to create its unique pure white marble is created exclusively in-house.  It is used primarily for classical historical reproductions of Greek, Roman and Egyptian antiquity, busts and full figures ranging in size from 8 inches tall to life-size, an array of religious artwork, a variety of animals, sports pieces and museum reproductions.

The quality of its product rivals the marble that is imported from Greece and Italy and anywhere else around the world.  Products for customers range from busts for Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, to high-school mascots to statues for mortuaries.  In addition, STATUES.Com is honored to be the exclusive production facility for “Operation Never Forget”, a national a national non-profit organization, dedicated to building bronze bust statues for the famlies of the brave service men and servicewomen of the United States Armed Services who have cut their lives short defending freedom in Afghanistan and Iraq fighting the war on terror.

In August of 2007, a $15,000 Utah microenterprise loan enabled MARBLECast Productions to purchase larger quantities of the marble powder filler, resin and catalyst for better prices.  Today, MARBLECast produces an average of 500 pieces of marble sculpture works per week.  Sales have increased by 20% and profits by 50%!

“The UMLF loan and team gave us the tools we needed to enhance our profitability.  Their attention to our needs and individuality is something you don’t find at banks, and we thank them for that. I recommend the UMLF highly to my small business colleagues”
